Confirm the player
Start the song in Apple Music or Spotify first, then open Cross Lyrics. Spotify must be installed and authorized; some Spotify playback controls require Premium. Mac also supports local audio and an imported matching LRC file.
Allow the requested access
On Mac, allow Cross Lyrics to control the selected music app when macOS asks. On iPhone and iPad, allow Music access for Apple Music and Local Network access when using a nearby lyric screen. A denied permission can be changed in system settings.
Check the song version
Lyrics are matched by song metadata and version. Remixes, live recordings and alternate releases may have different lyrics. If the match is wrong, search for the song manually. On Mac, you can also import the matching LRC file.
Lyrics and translation
The lyric is missing or out of sync.
Check the title and artist, then search again or import a matching LRC file. Online lyric results depend on the provider and the exact recording. The lyric page can save a small timing adjustment for the song.
Translation is unavailable.
Original lyrics do not require AI. System translation depends on the supported OS version and installed language pack. AI translation, romanization and line explanations require a compatible service that you configure yourself.
The iPad cannot see the other device.
Put both devices on the same local network, allow Local Network access, open Cross Lyrics in the foreground on both devices and complete pairing. A nearby lyric screen displays the source device's lyrics; it does not move the music or control the source player.
Privacy and account questions
Cross Lyrics does not require a Cross Lyrics account. Preferences, lyric caches, saved moments and notes are stored locally on the device. See the Privacy Policy for the network requests made when you use lyric providers, music-player authorization, nearby sync or an AI service you configure.
